Does Sentinel work when my Mac is asleep?
Yes. Sentinel uses a lightweight background service that stays alert during sleep for power, USB and lid events. Motion and login detection resume the moment the lid opens.
Will it drain my battery?
No. Sentinel runs below 1% CPU in idle. Camera and GPS are only activated on a trigger, never continuously.
What happens to the photos captured?
Photos are end-to-end encrypted on your Mac, pushed directly to your paired iPhone, and never stored on our servers. Delete them anytime from the iOS app.
Can a thief just disable it?
Sentinel requires admin privileges to uninstall and fires an alert before shutdown or force-quit. If your Mac goes offline unexpectedly, your iPhone is notified immediately.
Do I need the iPhone app to use it?
The iPhone app is how you receive alerts, view photos, and trigger remote lock. The Mac app alone can sound a local alarm, but the real product is the pair.
Is this a replacement for Find My?
No, it complements it. Find My tells you where your Mac is after it's gone. Sentinel tells you the moment someone reaches for it, so it doesn't get gone in the first place.
Which Macs and iPhones are supported?
macOS 15 Sequoia and later, on Apple Silicon. Motion detection reads the accelerometer that only Apple Silicon Macs have, so an Intel Mac gets every other trigger but not that one. iOS 18 and later, watchOS 11 and later.
